Transfer of Technology? There’s Nothing Like that. Africa, Wise Up!

Getting to Rome Is all that Matters. Not Necessarily the Route You Took.

Nothing has enslaved the African people and continent more than colonialism and the questionable philosophy to which they have been confined for generations.

My people have been blinded by colonialism and the wrong philosophy for centuries: transfer of technology.

Seriously, do you think deep in your heart hearts that anybody in this highly competitive and stingy world would simply dispatch what they’ve worked so hard to achieve to another country free of charge? That’s sort of daydreaming at best.

Let’s not fool ourselves. Rome can be reached in many ways. The route you take to get there is irrelevant. So far, getting there is all that matters.

According to a Chinese proverb, the color of the cat doesn’t matter, as long as it catches rats. There is no doubt in my mind that this analogy is accurate.

At the end of the day, achieving your goal is the most critical thing, which is why you should hold on to it until you reach it.

Many countries have shown this feat, including the United States. Japan is one of the leading nations with very high-tech institutions/companies. The whole Asia Pacific is taking giant strides in becoming a tech hub.

The Arab World or the United Arab League Nations, Dubai for instance, has become an epicenter of a world tourist attraction with a worth of US$ 177.01 billion according to the 2021 estimate. And it occupies the 29th wealthiest country in the world. https://www.arabianbusiness.com/money/wealth/wealth-management/dubai-on-track-to-become-one-of-the-wealthiest-cities-in-the-world-report

Steps to Acquire Technology.

In all seriousness, and to be precise, you acquire technology in three ways.

· Work hard and get it by yourself. This is self-explanatory.

· By understudying others (Students sent to study overseas can be one of the ways out).

This can take many forms. The prominent one so far is by sending your students overseas to study. Unfortunately, this of late has not seen to be working as many African and some third world countries students never return home after completing their studies abroad.

The reason most of our students don’t return to the continent may depend on many factors.

· One, is bad governments that most of the time the West helps to install to power because of their greed and wanting to maintain their colonial stronghold through the back door.

· Two, the same government becomes an enemy against their students who are now professionals well prepared and apt to spot their leaders’ flaws.

· Three, the comfort to live overseas and enjoying what others worked for to make their countries great. To these and other multiple reasons, add health problems, insecurity, and all that.

And that has become a greater problem as huge human capital gets stuck increasing the brain drain to developing countries while helping developed countries to further develop. Or

· Go a la Chinese (Copy or steal the damned thing outrightly)

Seriously these are the three fast ways to get to “Rome.” Mind you, to copy not to mention stealing technology at this level, isn’t a joke. You must be very smart and quite intelligent. Luckily, it appears China has these characteristics in abundance and employs and explores its arsenals when it wants.

They have no limit or coast they can’t risk crossing to achieve their goals. Their risky but eventful undertakings aren’t limited to the United States, but they extend such superior skills to wherever they deemed fit. Even Russia once accused China of theft of its military technology.

That’s how you go about it, friends. Stop trying to look soft, pliable, and sanctimonious by being conformist and complacent.
