No doubt, Western culture favors the number three, however, I insist not in the case of the recent happenings in the United Kingdom; I will tell you why.
Boris Johnson stepped out of office; Liz Truss stepped in; Queen Elizabeth II went “Home.” And of course, King Charles III came in.
As you can see, the events here didn’t just stop at three but went further to four.
If you look closely, the events happened in twos and added up to four and not three, which means they didn’t show only the bad side but the change that occurred on the good side of the coin too: the new King and the new Prime Minister.
First, the prime ministers changed positions (one went out, and the other came in). Likewise, the Queen left a space for the new King (her son) Charles III to occupy.
The myth of the number three in Western culture.
The examples below demonstrate a noticeable preference for the number three in Western culture. And the preference for three is wholly influenced by their belief and cultural inclinations.
· Relating to religion (the Holy Trinity),
· children’s stories (“Let us tell the Three Pigs,” “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”).
· The three-act play in literature, and so on.
Everything revolves around threes. The tendency to group bad things in threes is just a result of what people think and feel (all buried in tradition and culture).
Why Boris Johnson's resignation came as a surprise.
When Prime Minister Boris Johnson stepped down before Parliament would officially “oust him,” it didn’t only come as a shock and surprise but also affected me personally.
And the reason may be because I just love the man for whom he’s. Boris is a dynamic, intellectual, and competent individual.
I have always held him in high esteem and considered him an extremely highly capable man. The way he handled the second part of Brexit after Theresa May’s exit, can attest to this fact.
Therefore, I was partly disappointed and dumbed founded by the type of nasty mistake he made that could take him out of office in such a shameful way.
Honestly, before he finally threw in the towel, I had read so much unbelievable bad stuff about him, especially from my Medium fellow writers.
Can you imagine article titles such as “Boris Johnson: Putin’s Greatest Useful Idiot.” “The first lie that showed the truth about Boris Johnson.” Just to mention a few.
Seriously, all these and more referring to a Prime Minister? Wow, incredible!
The attitude of Britons of all people, towards the gentleman, didn’t even help matters.
Shouldn’t they have been more understanding and lenient with Prime Minister Boris? One of the reasons, I would think, would have been when he suffered from COVID.
If you watched, the man never really recovered completely and came out fully the same. Something might have happened to him that changed his persona.
Who would have thought that he would have engaged in holding a party without considering precautionary measures (like wearing of mask in a gathering of friends); since the governed were treated forcibly and mercilessly?
When Liz Truss stepped in as British Prime Minister.
The happenings before, during, and after.
The incoming or stepping-in of the new PM Liz Truss (what a good omen for not missing the Queen’s handling of her swearing-in). Onlookers like me saw it as a blessing in disguise and that gives the new prime minister a moral boost for being the last prime minister the Queen had to swear in before her departure.
Everything being equal, I wish all Brits the best of luck with their new King and new Prime Minister.
Moving forward, think about things that take place in threes and those that are twos or fours. You may miss something important if you don’t!
